Sawdust Projects: Holiday Gift Guide for Woodworkers #sawdustprojects

Sometimes we think that special someone has everything they need, or maybe that person is difficult to buy for because they are very particular about what they buy.  This year, Sawdust Projects has put together the Holiday Gift Guide for woodworkers that can fit any budget.  Whether that loved one is a seasoned expert or is just getting started in woodworking, this guide has something for everyone.

1/14 – Cordless Drill and Impact Driver Kit

If the woodworker in your life doesn’t have a decent impact driver and hammer drill set, a gift of a new set will make their day.  Having a new set of drills is like getting a new car, just about everyone likes swapping out their old car for a new one.   Shown: Ridgid Gen5X 18V Lithium Ion Cordless Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Kit. This hammer drill packs 750 inch pounds of torque, and comes with an auxiliary handle that can be used on either side of the drill.  With 2,250 inch pounds of torque, this impact driver is the ideal tool for heavy-duty fastener driving in any situation.  It comes standard with 3 built-in LED lights for better visibility on any project. This particular kit also comes with 2 x 4.0AH 18V Batteries, 1 x 18V Charger, 2 x Belt Hooks, 2 x Bits, and 1 x Tool Bag.  The best part about this gift is that Rigid stands by their tools and products with a Lifetime Service Agreement which provides the original owner of qualifying RIDGID® Brand tools a lifetime of free replacement batteries, free service, and free replacement parts.  So if that battery stops taking a charge one day, just send it in and get a brand new one from Rigid. Find it on Amazon here.

2/14 – Wood Plane

Using a bench plane can be a very satisfying tool in the right situations, such as finishing tasks, truing an edge, or smoothing a rough piece of wood into flat stock.  A bench plane is a great addition to any woodworker’s shop. Shown: WoodRiver V3 Bench Planes (#4) found on Amazon here.

3/14 – Hand Saw

Even though many of us have drawers and shelves full of corded and cordless power tools, but not many of us have experienced the utility and joy of finishing a job with a high-quality Japanese hand saw. Shown: SUIZAN 9.5 Inch Ryoba Double Edge Hand Saw for Woodworking found on Amazon here.

4/14 – Pocket Hole Jig

A pocket hole jig is such a key component of a good workshop and makes difficult joinery much easier.  Being able to drill pocket holes to the right depth at the correct angle in an efficient manner is a must-have for every woodshop.  Shown: Armor Auto-Jig Pocket Hole System, which is great as it automatically adjusts the height of the drill bit collar to give your pocket holes the perfect depth on every hole with each thickness of wood. It can be found on Amazon here.

5/14 – Corner Clamp

When putting together joints, especially on 90-degree joints, it is key to have the joint pressed together before adding the fasting screw.  A corner clamp is a great addition to this holiday gift guide as it allows that special someone in your life to get the perfect joint every time. Shown: Kreg KHCCC 90° Corner Clamp, found on Amazon here.

6/14 – Parallel Bar Clamp

Sometimes a woodworker just needs to glue stuff together.  And when the projects get bigger, having a large enough clamp is a must-have. Shown: Bessey 50-Inch Fixed Jaw Parallel Clamp, which can be found on Amazon here in a 2-pack.

7/14 – Earplug Headphones

No holiday gift guide is complete without top-of-the-line tech.  When you don’t want to blast the tunes you’re listening to in order to hear them over the sound of your power tools, a set of earplug headphones is the way to go.  Shown: ISOtunes PRO Bluetooth Earplug Headphones, which reduce noise by 27 decibels, has a noise-canceling mic and connects by Bluetooth to your phone or computer for a seamless user experience.  It can be found on Amazon here.

8/14 – Combination Square

A combination square is really nice to have to check and sometimes double-check the status of the project or to use as a gauge for transferring measurements.   Shown: Irwin Tools 12″ Combination Square, sold on Amazon here.

9/14 – Countersink and Flip Drive Drill Bits

For those times when you want to switch between pre-drilling pilot holes with recessed space for the head of the screw and actually driving the screws during the project, this combination flip drive and countersink drill bit set is an amazing time saver. The advice of this holiday gift guide is that any woodworker would be happy to find this under the tree or in their stocking. Shown: Dewalt DrillDrive, sold on Amazon here.

10/14 – Dust Mask

In the long run, one’s health is one of the most important things, especially for those who might be around sawdust a lot.  This gift tells the person you love them in more ways than one.  Shown: GVS Elipse P100 Dust Half Mask Respirator, sold on Amazon here.

13/14 – Digital Angle Gauge
